A talented singer inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, Jo Harrop performs a beautiful, straight-ahead set of timeless jazz standards. Already highly experienced she includes performances at the likes of the Jazz Cafe, Royal Albert Hall, the Sage Gateshead, Pizza Express, St. Martins In The Fields and Zedel and has been featured on Courtney Pines’ Radio 2 show ‘Jazz Crusade’, Jazz FM and BBC Radio London.

She began her career as a singer/songwriter, writing and recording a song for Acoustic Alchemy’s album “Radio Contact” and as a backing vocalist, worked with internationally renowned artists including Leanne Rimes, Neil Diamond and Enrique Iglesias! Her numerous current projects include ‘Fever’, a celebration of jazz diva Peggy Lee and a big band tribute to Anita O’Day. For this 606 performance Jo will be surrounded by a phenomenally talented band, including special guest, rising star tenor saxophonist and composer, Alex Hitchcock. The lineup is completed by Jo’s handpicked trio, including the beautifully melodic Harry Sankey on guitar, winner of the Musicians’ Company’s “Young Jazz Musician Award” 2017 Will Barry on piano and up-and-coming talent Joe Downard (National Youth Jazz Orchestra) on bass. Promises to be a wonderful evening for anyone who likes their jazz hip, swinging and heartfelt.

“This girl was born to sing jazz!” Blues & Soul; “A singing sensation… her voice is amazing…a class act” BeBop Spoken Here; “Excellent tone and great stage presence” Marlbank; “Alex Hitchcock….undoubtedly one of the stars of the future” Jazz FM
