Debby has many years of experience as a professional singer in both live settings and in the studio. She started her vocal training at the Academy of Contemporary Music, completing an HND in Vocals, and receiving the high accolade of most outstanding vocalist of the year. A few years later she went back to college and trained at Access To Music college in London Jazznights Debby Bracknell 180617 (110)where she worked towards an ATCL in Session Vocals passing with distinction.
An experienced and talented singer, Debby is more than comfortable singing most styles of music and has performed both lead and backing vocals with many successful function and tribute bands and original artists in the UK and Europe.

Since 2006 Debby has had extensive involvement as a backing vocalist with the band Shakatak where she has been fortunate enough to tour and perform in many venues and festivals across the world including Japan, Canada, Italy, Indonesia, Russia, Armenia, Germany, Kazakhstan and the UK. Her background vocals also feature their last two album releases.

After forming a writing partnership with Shakatak’s bass player George Anderson they have Jazznights Debby Bracknell 180617 (54)written and produced many songs together and have released two albums to date, ‘Positivity’ and more recently ‘Expressions’ where Debby featured both as lead and backing vocalist.
Bands and artists worked with include Shakatak, The Pink Floyd Experience UK, George Anderson, Streetlife, MIB, Higher Ground, Hitmen & Her, A-Train, Songbird, Five Play, Marc Hockley, Famous Five, Funkadelics, Jason Lee, Infrasonic, Blues Associates, Sam Obernik, The Gary White Foundation, Jazz-a-la-carte, PSD, Fil Straughan, OTT, Otis B Driftwood, Jackson Live in Concert, GK’s Funky People, Smooth Criminals, Undercover Superstars, Freestyle Funk Collective, Agent 47, Groove Junction, Hula Groove, Mimosa, Mojo6, Soul Easy, Tamela Tigers, Sugartown, Re:cover and many more.

After winning ‘The Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year’ Jo went on to study saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music in London and at the Berklee School of music in Boston, USA. After recording her debut album “Here and Now!”, the legendary British trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton invited her to join his eight-piece band.
